Classic Audio Book

You might not believe me, but after reading Stephen King books for the last couple of years, my brain has completely turned to mush. I had never thought that reading could make you stupid, but it has. With nothing but thrillers and horror in my bookshelf, I can not pay attention to a story that doesn’t involve murder and stock characters. The problem is that it is only going to get worse unless I do something about it. With all the work that I have nowadays, however, I rarely have the mental energy to pick up a book when I am all done.

I couldn’t figure out a solution until I tried classic audio books. You see, when I would read classic literature, I would just simply get bored. It wasn’t that the stories weren’t interesting, but that I didn’t have the attention span to sit there silently, deciphering sentence after sentence of difficult and convoluted prose. With the classic audio books, however, it is sort of force-fed to me. When the sound comes into my ear, I have no choice but to listen. The classic audio books keep me moving through the story, and although I don’t get quite as much of it as I would if I could actually focus on the books and read them all the way through, It still is a lot better than nothing. And nothing is how much good literature I have been reading for the last few years.

I hadn’t even thought of classic audio books until I was riding in a friend’s car one day. When he turned on the car and a narrator came on, I was curious. He told me that he had been into a classic audio book store on the Internet. Apparently, there were downloadable audio books by the thousands. Many of them were so old that they have gotten into public domain. The prices were reasonable, and the selection was spectacular. I had thought that most audio books online were modern stories without a lot of depth, but apparently classic audio books are the new thing. Nowadays, a lot of people are into them who you wouldn’t expect to be.

One of the most important things about classic audio books is the reader. It may sound hard to believe, but a good reader can turn a dull classic audio book into a thrilling adventure, while a battery that can ruin the best piece of literature. Fortunately, many of the best readers record more than one of the audio books online.
